SPR PERFUME MUSEUM, situated on Jewtown eastern in the vicinity of ‘Mattanche’ gifted land is a concept which permits both natives as well as foreign visitors from all parts of the world who visit ‘Mattanche’. The term derived from Hebrew which means in English gift, that part of area stretching from Jew town scanning more than three acres of land was gifted by the Raja (King of Kochi) to the then Paradesi Jews and Portuguese who came to Kochi, ‘rry’ in vernacular an area, is added to the ‘Mattanche’ and thus came to be known as MATTANCHERRY where history sleeps with the Jewish synagogue and Mattancherry Palace opposite Mattancherry backwaters which culminates at the estuary.
